Challenge

E.ON’s Foresight team updated its approach to further increase the impact of its activities. The goal was to better leverage Foresight insights for decision-making and to drive strategic action.

As part of the activities, the team sought support in identifying, assessing, and prioritizing emerging opportunities and risks (EORs) - and translating them into actionable recommendations.

Approach

We facilitated a strategic wind- tunneling exercise to help E.ON assess the robustness of its strategy against key drivers of change.

Drawing on best-practices from other industries, we applied a tailored process to identify strategic hotspots and surface EORs. A workshop with diverse stakeholders enabled prioritization of EORs and the development of targeted actions to address them.

Outcome

Analysing E.ON Group’s strategy against key drivers of change resulted in:
  • 20 emerging opportunities and risks (EORs)
  • An EOR Portfolio assessing urgency, addressability, and time to impact
  • Clear Actions to refine corporate and business unit strategies
The new foresight approach balances expert contribution and AI support, while accounting for present and future technology and
business trends across three verticals and evolving job market needs - ensuring that SPE is on time with the right education initiatives.
