Project Case

for A Tier-1 automotive supplier: PREPARING CONNECTIVITY BUSINESS FOR 2035

Foresight Innovation Strategy

Challenge

The global consumer audio electronics manufacturer's Connectivity SBU faced simultaneous disruption across its market:

  • geopolitical fragmentation reshaping semiconductor and network access,

  • platform-native tech companies entering the automotive space, and

  • the risk of being reduced to a hardware supplier.

With long product cycles, the cost of miscalibration is high, and traditional planning approaches were no longer sufficient to navigate multiple plausible futures.

Approach

We ran a strategic foresight process combining broad horizon scanning, expert engagement & leadership co-creation.

A 360° PESTLE scan distilled a wide signal base into a focused set of key uncertainties. A two-day leadership workshop in the US then used scenario planning to develop four alternative futures for 2035, from which a portfolio of opportunities was identified and assessed for market potential and strategic fit.

Outcome

The project equipped our client to move from reactive hardware supply toward proactive platform and service integration, with a clear portfolio of opportunities stress- tested across multiple future states.

  • Four 2035 scenarios providing a robust strat. planning foundation

  • Seven priority opportunity profiles

  • Innovation portfolio consolidating findings for roadmap planning and executive decision-making
