TURNING OUTSIDE-IN INTELLIGENCE INTO A GLOBAL INNOVATION PIPELINE
Challenge
A Fortune 500 consumer goods leader recognised that internal teams lacked the outside-in perspective needed to credibly identify radical innovation opportunities. There was no established process to surface and connect innovation challenges horizontally across BUs. They were looking for outside-in intelligence and a structured facilitation, translating disparate signals into a prioritised set of opportunity spaces.

Approach
We designed and ran a funnel approach to systematically identify and narrow down innovation opportunities through structured, collaborative filtering. Starting with broad trend scanning across corporate, start-up, and academic sources, we clustered findings. In interdisciplinary workshops, we progressively prioritised, which produced a clear horizon view of the highest-potential opportunities.
Outcome
The project delivered a validated outside-in innovation process, adopted across business units as a repeatable methodology for future strategy cycles. From an initial pool of 70 Opportunities, the team narrowed the funnel to 24 prioritised strategic opportunities across three horizons. Five top-priority initiatives were kicked-off with a clearly defined roadmap.
